Article: Do Readers Owe Authors?

The link below is to an article that looks at the question of whether readers owe authors anything or not. I owe authors what it costs to bye their books/ebooks and that’s about it. Whatever I owed them has been paid for through the sales price of the book – I think that is the point of paying for a book. Any author that thinks more is owed than that has an inflated opinion of who they are.

Sure, readers may become fans of writers and admire certain authors, which I think is a totally different kettle of fish. I am a fan of a good number of authors and admire a number of them, but I don’t believe I owe them anything.

What do you think? Please respond to the poll I’ll post on this issue and/or leave your additional thoughts in the comments on that post. Look forward to hearing the responses.

The link below is to an article that looks at the battle to save bookstores. It includes the idea that ebook sales are diminishing and have reached their peak, which I think is little more than fiction (pun intended).
