Article: Do Readers Owe Authors?

The link below is to an article that looks at the question of whether readers owe authors anything or not. I owe authors what it costs to bye their books/ebooks and that’s about it. Whatever I owed them has been paid for through the sales price of the book – I think that is the point of paying for a book. Any author that thinks more is owed than that has an inflated opinion of who they are.

Sure, readers may become fans of writers and admire certain authors, which I think is a totally different kettle of fish. I am a fan of a good number of authors and admire a number of them, but I don’t believe I owe them anything.

What do you think? Please respond to the poll I’ll post on this issue and/or leave your additional thoughts in the comments on that post. Look forward to hearing the responses.
