Finished Reading: Strange the Dreamer (Book 1) – Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor

Strange the Dreamer (Strange the Dreamer #1)Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This one had me almost from the very beginning and I was really enjoying this strange tale of another world – but then right in the heart of the tale, it was interrupted by an imposed and unnecessary romance. It was not a good fit and reduced greatly my enjoyment of the story… and so my rating of the book reflects my disappointment.

Finished Reading: The Barbarians – The Collapse Of The Roman Empire by Michael Hector

The Barbarians: The Collapse Of - The Roman Empire: The Goths, The Vandals & The Sack Of Rome (Rome, Germanic Tribes, Germanic Empire Book 1)The Barbarians: The Collapse Of – The Roman Empire: The Goths, The Vandals & The Sack Of Rome by Michael Hector
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

This book provides a good introduction to Rome, its rise, and fall. However, the book should have been edited to a greater degree than it was, for it is poor throughout in this respect. The editing fails what would otherwise have been a good (though brief) introduction to Rome.

Beginning a Slow, Measured Return

I am beginning a slow, measured return to Blogging. My health has improved somewhat, though I came close to destroying an eye (that has also recovered well) due to an injury I sustained. So I’m starting with this Blog to see how I go.
